TubeMogul Brings Real-Time Buying of Video Ads to Japan for First Time
TubeMogul opens its doors in Japan, with strategic partnership and ¥100 million in venture funding from Digital Advertising Consortium (DAC), a division of Hakuhodo. Omnibus, an ad technology company, also participated in the financing. TubeMogul Japan will combine DAC's position as a trading desk and technology consortium for Japan's advertising agencies with a custom version TubeMogul's real-time media buying platform for video ads built specifically for the country's market, featuring a completely-translated site and access to new inventory.
According to TurboMogul, little to no real-time inventory exists in Japan. So this partnership is the first time real-time bidding will be used at scale in the country, taking advantage of pre-existing partnerships with top publishers and technology companies. At launch, ad formats available include standards like in-stream video and in-display units that viewers can click to play, as well as a variety of formats perfect for Japan's heavy use of smartphones and tablets, from in-app video interstitials to mobile web formats. The ¥100 million investment round will enable TubeMogul Japan to scale quickly, ramping up hiring and signing deals with the country's top brand advertisers and trading desks. The company already named its CEO, seasoned ad industry veteran Masahiro Kano.
Square Enix Holdings reports results for the 9 month period ended December 31, 2012
The company specialized in content and services today announced consolidated results for the nine-month period ended December 31, 2012. The net sales are ¥103 million, compared to ¥96 million for the same period of 2011. Operating loss are ¥4,8 million, compared to an operating income of ¥11 millions for the same period of 2011. During the nine-month period ended December 31, 2012, the Company has not recovered the operating loss posted in the six-month period ended September 30, 2012. According to Square Enix Holdings, it is primarily due to the increasingly difficult condition of the world-wide console game market, under which the Group is struggling to achieve a fair expected return on its investment. On the other hand, content for other platforms such as PCs, smartphones and SNS such as "SENGOKU IXA," a browser game, and "FINAL FANTASY BRIGADE," a social networking game for Mobage, are generating an acceptable profit. In addition, newly released game titles, such as "Kaku-San-Sei Million Arthur," a social networking game released in April, 2012 serving more than 1 million registered users, have been expanding at a satisfactory pace.
