China quick review : China Annual Best Employer, Online TV Service Platform

Shanghai announces "China Annual Best Employer (2012)" winners / VTC and PPTV Launch Cloud-Based Online TV Service Platform announces "China Annual Best Employer (2012)" winners, a human resource solutions providers in China, and Peking University's Corporate Social Responsibility and Employer Brand Communication Research Center, jointly conducted the survey and selection process, which sought to recognize good employer and to promote the notion of an employer brand. Following the series of selections and reviews, 30 firms were honored as the "Top 30 Employers of the Year.". They come from the automotive & transportation sector (Shanghai Volkswagen, BMW China,  China Southern Airlines, China Eastern), but also from the industrial sector (China Minmetals Corporation , GE, Bosch China) or the high tech industry (Tencent, Baidu, Nokia, Oracle, China Telecom, SAP China,…

The survey was conducted in 28 cities across the country over four months. More than 1,500 employers were selected during the first stage of the process. All selected firms were screened, which included a questionnaire, information research, face-to-face interview with employees, as well as a review by experts in the human resources field before the final award recipients were finally chosen. An external public survey and an in-depth internal employee investigation were combined to ensure the most accurate research results.

The survey data revealed significant changes in what job seekers and holders considered their priorities during 2012. An exemple is that Job seekers are focusing more on stability. Among the 18 secondary indices, "Best Benefits Package" topped the list, overtaking "Competitive Salary," followed by "Enterprises Having Excellent Growth Prospects," "Harmonious Internal Interpersonal Relationships," "Just and Fair Employing Principles" and "Opportunity to Improve Core Individual Abilities."

Compared to 2011, 40% of the new-generation job seekers - born in the 1990s - are more willing to work in a state-owned enterprise. In addition, fewer than half  of the undergraduates now prefer to work exclusively in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

VTC and PPTV Launch Cloud-Based Online TV Service Platform

VTC Digilink (multimedia corporation and a Telco in Vietnam), and PPTV  - an online TV service in China - have agreed to provide a online TV service to serve 5 million Vietnamese immigrants in the international market. The service package will include HD TV channels and Video on Demand (VOD) contents. The service will be hosted on the newly launched PPTV Asian TV Networks (ATN). ATN is a global Over the Top (OTT) TV cloud built on top of Microsoft Windows Azure services. Based on the online video cloud platform PPCLOUD, PPTV is accessible from a variety of systems including a PC website
