Korean Digital Firm SocialLink  merges with Weber Shandwick

Weber Shandwick, a public relations firm announced that Korean digital and social media communications agency, SocialLink, owned and led by digital communications specialist Juny Lee, has agreed to merge its business into Weber Shandwick Korea. The merger is effective 1 November 2012.  Lee will assume the position of vice president Weber Shandwick Korea. The move will expand Weber Shandwick's existing Korean headcount by some 50 percent. Established in early 2010, SocialLink has built a distinguished portfolio of domestic and international blue chip clients, including well-known brands like SK Telecom, GM Korea and Samsung Electronics.

KDDI Web Communications Has Entered into an Exclusive Distribution Partnership with US Based Twilio for its Communications API in Japan

KDDI Web Communications and Twilio, the cloud communications company have agreed to an alliance in which KDDI Web Communications will distribute the Twilio API platform to developers in Japan. Through this alliance, KDDI Web Communications will enable developers in Japan to build software applications with communication capabilities. Twilio will aim to extend the use of its cloud-based telephony API in the Japanese market through this alliance with KDDI Web Communications Twilio, established in 2008 in the USA, has a community of nearly 150,000 developers. Its platform provides the ability to make a phone call (outbound), receive a phone call (inbound), and offers VoIP and SMS functionality – all within an application. KDDI Web Communications will start the exclusive distribution of the Twilio API in Japan. The service includes all of Twilio's telephony API service. The service will feature the underlying connectivity with Japanese domestic telecommunication carriers provided by KDDI Web Communications and will launch in the spring of 2013.

Unilever Partners With Vserv.mobi for Mobile Campaign "CLEAR Eurovaganza"

Unilever, the second largest FMCG advertiser in the world, recently launched a mobile campaign called "CLEAR Eugovaganza" in Indonesia. The mobile app called "CLEARBOLA" was launched during Euro 2012. Mindshare partnered with Vserv.mobi to deliver the campaign objective, which was to effectively use mobile to target and engage 18-30 year old football crazed Indonesian men. The app was in Indonesian Bahasa dialect with content focusing on the Euro Cup. This included past tournament details, historical data and live scores of the present tournament. Users registered for a lucky draw using CLEARBOLA to enter a unique code obtained from a Clear Shampoo bottle, and three lucky users witnessed the finals of the Euro 2012 on the first of July in Ukraine. The Indonesian mobile-internet ecosystem is dominated by App capable feature phones having a 80% share. To ensure reach across the target audience, the 'CLEARBOLA' app was built with compatibility for feature phone devices. The campaign leveraged the Vserv.mobi network for distribution. The 'CLEARBOLA' app generated downloads at a conversion rate of 15.25%.The app continues to be in use well after Euro 2012, with users still looking up scores, statistics, and historical data.

NTT Communications chooses Cloudian S3 compatible object storage platform for Storage as a Service

Cloudian, a provider of S3 compatible cloud storage software, today announced that NTT Communications has selected Cloudian's industry-leading platform to power its cloud storage service, "Biz Hosting Cloudn Object Storage". The service is being initially provided via NTT Communications data centers in Japan, to be followed by data centers in the United States and in other countries. Cloudian recently released the free Cloudian Community Edition, which will support up to 100 TB of useable storage and offer forum support, opening up the scalability, reliability and power of cloud object storage to anyone building an Amazon S3-compatible cloud, be it public, private or hybrid.  The Cloudian Community Edition can be downloaded from http://www.cloudian.com/get-started.html.
