This year marks the first visit of the Go Green Expo to Los Angeles this weekend, January 23rd through 25th. Taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Expo boasts over two hundred participating companies, a free screening of the Sundance Film Festival winner "Fuel," and keynotes from actor and activist Ed Begley Jr. and actress and author Mariel Hemingway. According to Ecorazzi , last year's Expo in New York City was such a success that organizers decided to expand from the previous locations NYC, Philadelphia and Atlanta. The exhibitors include the usual green home products and organic goods, but the technology category was still represented.

target="_blank">GenGreen is a locally-focused Web site that is aiming to be a comprehensive and diverse resource for everything from green job listings to farmer's markets. Registered users can maintain profiles, blogs and event calendars that can be shared and used to educate one another.

Greenopia is another local green guide, with business and product directories. With articles such as "Be Green, Save Green: Five Basics for Winterizing Your Home," Greenopia aims to provide practical tips along with providing local resources for getting the work done. They do not have a paid directory: all of the companies on the site have been subjected to the site's own approval process.

Workgreen Technologies, Inc. is a "green centric social network, unbiased green certification agency, and online green commerce store." The site is not open to the public as of yet, but their profile notes their commitment to healthy and sustainable organization practices, while setting and upholding standards for those organizations to work in an environmentally conscious manner while increasing profitability.

Go Green Los Angeles practices what they preach: they are using a zero carbon footprint approach with staff travel and some ticket proceeds to be carbon offset.
