Today at WWDC in San Francisco, Apple announced the release of the newest iPhone iteration, the 3G S. “iPhone 3G S is the fastest, most powerful iPhone yet and we think people will love the incredible new features including autofocus camera, video recording and the freedom of voice control,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of WorldWide Product Marketing. The phone also has a longer battery life than its predecessors, as well as over 100 new features including Cut, Copy and Paste, MMS, Spotlight Search, tethering and landscape keyboard. It will be much better for video than the 3G.

iPhone 3G S's voice control controls everything from whose number you dial to what song iTunes plays; the phone also has as a built-in digital compass and a cool “find your iPhone feature” that lets you locate your lost phone from your computer.

According to Apple, the iPhone 3G S is up to four times as fast as iPhone 3G, for both applications and internet. The company also says that battery life will be significantly extended for wi-fi internet use – nine hours compared to the old model’s six – though talk time will remain the same, five hours.

The new iPhone will be available June 19 in the U.S. and July 7 internationally. MMS and tethering will not be immediately available to U.S. users because AT&T’s network cannot yet support them, but iPhone subscribers to most international networks will be able to use these features immediately.

Apple also announced today a reduction in the price of the MacBook Air as well as the launch of iPhone OS 3.0, available June 17.

I heard Apple just cut the price on the old Iphones down to $99 in an effort to reduce stock and make way for the new inventory. So its bargain time people!
