The company Alapage.com, 100% owned by France Télécom since October 1999,
has just acquired the company Marcopoly, a specialist in sales of
household goods via the Internet.
Marcopoly was launched in 1998 and is one of the leading names in France
for on-line sales of white and brown goods and computer equipment. It
provides not only a catalog of over 10,000 references, but also a
multi-criteria purchasing guide and comprehensive information on each
product. Marcopoly ensures both delivery and after sales service and also
allows secure payment on-line.
Alapage.com offers 2,500,000 different cultural and games products books,
records, videos, CD-ROMs and games. The site is continuing to expand, with
40,000 articles ordered each month and over 600,000 visits per month.
With this latest acquisition, France Télécom has reinforced its electronic
business activity.
